The Guainía Taíno Tribe: iukaieke Guainía seeks to empower our community members culturally, socially, and economically.
The affairs of the Guainía Taíno Tribe: iukaieke Guainía, Borikén are administered by a Kasike (Chieftain) and a Nitaino Council. The current Kasike of the Guainía Taíno Tribe, Borikén is the Hon. Roberto "Múkaro Agueibaná" Borrero.
The affairs of the Guainía Tribe of the U.S. Virgin Islands are administered by a Kasike (Chieftain) and a Nitaino Council. The Kasike of Guainía Tribe of the U.S. Virgin Islands is the Hon. Maekiaphan Phillips.
The Kasike of both the Guainía Taíno Tribe of Borikén and the Guainía Taíno Tribe of the U.S Virgin Islands have emeritus seat within the other respective council and maintain a dual citizen pact.
Exercising our right to self-determination, Iukaieke Guainía of Borikén has established, through separate organizing documents, a non-profit entity entitled Guainía Taíno Tribe, Inc, in Borikén to further its goals for community development. While mutually supportive and interconnected, Iukaieke Guainía, Borikén and the Guainía Taíno Tribe, Inc. are separate entities.
